Nan Goldin : The 2007 Hasselblad Award

Le Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography 2007 a été décerné à Nan Goldin. Nan Goldin est l’un des plus importants photographes de notre temps. En adoptant l’esthétique directe de l’instantané photographique, elle a réuni une documentation de sa propre vie et celle de ses amis depuis plus de 30 ans.

Son intime et formellement belles photographies axées sur la scène urbaine à New York et en Europe dans les années 1970, 80 et 90, une période marquée de façon dramatique par le VIH et le sida. Son utilisation de la photographie comme mémoire, comme un moyen de protection contre la perte et comme un acte de préservation, et son utilisation du diaporama comme un moyen de présenter son travail, résonne dans le travail de photographes de ces dernières générations.

The Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography for 2007 has been awarded to Nan Goldin.Nan Goldin is one of the most significant photographers of our time. Adopting the direct esthetics of snapshot photography she has been documenting her own life and that of her friends for more than 30 years. Her intimate and formally beautiful photographs focus on the urban scene in New York and Europe in the 1970s, 80s and 90s, a period dramatically marked by HIV and AIDS. Her use of photography as a memoir, as a means of protection against loss and as an act of preservation, and her use of the slide show as a means of presenting her work, resonates in the work of photographers of recent generations.
