Durant les deux annĂ©es qu’elle a passĂ© Ă  Tokyo, Joan Sinclair a souvent entendu parler de ces sex- clubs japonais aux sols en miroir et aux dĂ©cors fantaisistes. En 2004, elle part avec son appareil photo vivre au Japon pendant un an. Dès son arrivĂ©e Ă  Tokyo, elle se lie d’amitiĂ© certains responsables et employĂ©s de sex-clubs pour ensuite devenir photographe pour Soapland magazine, un mensuel pornographique. C’est ce qui l’a conduite au travail photographique prĂ©sentĂ© dans le livre « Pink Box : Dans les clubs Ă©rotiques japonais ».
